I’m Ben Miles, a developer and founder based in Newcastle, Australia. I design, build, and experiment with software, products, and ideas.

Software development
Full-stack products, from the database schema to the last easing curve. Mostly TypeScript, always shipping.
Product design
Interfaces, identities and everything in between. The small details are most of the work.
Hardware & engineering
Circuits, enclosures and instruments, so the work isn't only software.
Business & entrepreneurship
Products need a company around them to survive. Pricing, distribution, and the patience to keep going.
Not everything starts
as a company.
Prototypes, tools and small obsessions. Some become products; most just teach me something.

about me.
I’m Ben Miles, a developer, designer and founder based in Newcastle, Australia. I build software, products, and occasionally the companies around them.
Most of what I know I taught myself by building things that worked, and plenty that didn’t. I care about the whole stack, from the schema and the kerning to the interface and the business model.
Right now that means Rackd, an independent fashion marketplace, Penfield, a research effort in medical imaging, and a steady pile of smaller experiments in between.
I’m thirteen. School in the day, and everything here gets built around it.
